New Wednesday Morning Strength Building Class: YogaStrong

YogaStrong - Wednesdays 6-7.15am

Last Wednesday I woke up and couldn't move my left arm above shoulder height.  It is very hard to get dressed when you can't raise your arm above your head believe me.  That aside, I was also in a lot of pain.  I suffered through it for three days.  At first I thought it was muscle tension so I applied a heat pack all day.  It made no difference.  I persisted with my self-diagnosis and thought perhaps something was inflamed so I applied an ice pack and started taking a few ibuprofen.  They made no difference.  I taught my Thursday class one-armed (a bit of a challenge when it is a shoulder-opening class!).  By Friday I wasn't sure what to do and I was almost in tears at work with the pain.  One of my colleagues started putting sticky heat patches on me and I walked around smelling like a sportsman all day.  Since nothing seemed to be working I thought perhaps I had some early onset arthritis.  I did the usual Internet diagnosing and came up with a variety of other potentially deadly or disabling conditions before finally making an appointment with a physio.

The physio moved me and palpated me and finally told me what physios often do, that is, to do some stretches and get some massage.  He also informed me in no uncertain terms that I was a bit of a weakling and needed to do some strengthening.  Now, I know I am no Arnie, and not even Linda Hamilton in Terminator 2 (remember those arms?), but I had never really thought of myself as a wuss.

In any case, I thought it couldn't do me any harm to do a bit more strength work and I thought if I am going to do it why not motivate you to do some too?  So, Wednesday mornings from 6 am-7.15am I am starting a strength building class YogaStrong.  Come along to greet the morning with a bit of mindful grunt before you head off to work!

Oh, and the physio seems to have been right.  I've done a few focused stretches, had a few massages, and started some intense strength work and neck and shoulder are so much better already!
